Turbo done/have bad tap?

I just got done with my RRM turbo install, let it run to warm up and drove up the road. Took out on the main road and was gonna take it for a nice drive, got on it boy it goes nice and all of the sudden a loud tappin noise started like a valve or something. I babied it back home and the noise stopped in my driveway for a couple of seconds then started aging? then the check eng. light came on.Could it be the oil I put in is to thin? I put 5-30 in it. I took off the valve cover and everything looked ok to me any ideas??????

I found out that my motor blew because of this jet peformance product that I have in my car did'nt work with the turbo, It leaned out my fuel way to much,I did'nt think to tell anyone about it because I did'nt think that it mattered,I screwed myself,I'll have to put the turbo on another motor.

Is the car running fine?? You should use 20/50 oil though. The tapping sounds like a stuck hydraulic vlv lash adjuster. If the motor is running fine that is. Also it is like the only sound that would go away and come back like that. How many miles on car? Check engine light comes on due to improper vlv clearence with lash adjuster stuck... causes vlv to open late which may give you a studder at idle as well. If this sound identical what your hearing tell me and i'll help you out as i've been there twice!

Cold climate here, Boe. We have to use slightly thinner oils.

OZ, what exactly blew? If it's a piston or con rod you could always just replace them and try to run it again....if you're ok with that route.

Boe I'll contact you tomorrow and yes it has a very bad tap two of my plugs ignighted and burnt the electroads right off. Rob seems to think I blew a hole though the piston. It runs but it's missing like it's only running on 3cyl. I'm keeping the car just thinking of the right route to go with the motor.

If it's just pistons...I'd do the internals. That's just me though.

Yes I have a v-force from jet performance products that I had mitsu put in,it's for better responce and higher redline. I did'nt even think to say anything but it leaned out my fuel way to much and that ended up blowing my eng.

Crap man that does suck... should have took that out and put in stock. Oh well looks like you'll have some motor time now. Build it right to last all night! And get rid of that chip before boosting again.

don't feel bad, i blew up my lightning with 1500miles because i leaned it out to much.

lean is mean but,
you play you pay

i run a pretty safe tune now putting out about 422 rwhp, but i could get another 40-50 rwhp out of it if i wanted
