If they tell you aftermarket parts void the warranty, they must be able to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem (warranty companies don't want to tell you this). I used to install car audio and this has been an issue before. How the f**k is a new headunit (or intake for that matter) going to screw up a transmission, or engine component. I have been told this is protected by some federal regulation. Anyone with any information on if this is correct or not should post it, this information could be helpfull for all.

Yeah...well...not completely minus a warranty...we'll see after my first oil change and stuff and possibly first scheduled maintenance...depending upon how quickly i put miles on the car. I'm pretty low so far.

Yea I got my second oil change 2 weeks ago and I got lucky with my intake (I go to the dealership for the oil change because it's free for me otherwise I would have done it myslef with synthetic)and knock on wood I still have my warranty......hehe but I dunno how it's gonna work with my exhaust soon to follow hehe...........we will see

I have not had any grinding of gears, other than simply missing the gear when I practice speed shifts

Maybe that is the problem! What in the hell are you doing praticing speed shifts in an OZ? For those of you that have that grinding problem, and your name should be changed to something like Rusty Wallace ( you know who you are ) have you ever considered that your car was not meant to driven like a race car? Lancers are made for economy and comfort not drag racing around the mall parking lot or seeing what you 0-60 time is by attempting to speed shift. Hello wake up and smell the coffee. Driving a car like a race car when it was never in a million years meant to be that is pretty much = to RICE!!!!!! It seems as though the fast and the furious has had a major impact on the american society, and I don't mean that in a good way at all. Thank the lord that I live in Japan and don't have see this happening. No offense just drive what you have the way it was meant! This goes for the Honda Ricers too! Claudius you know you wanted to say this but I guess I beat to the punch again!

I was surprised when people complained about Lancer's shifting mechanism. I am quite happy with the gear box and the shift is quite smooth. I test drove a 03 Corrolla S, and a 02 Acura RSX S; and I found RSX S shifter is the best, Lancer is second and Corrolla is the third. Price wise, Lancer is unbeatable.

Either I agree with otaking on fillin' up the tank or it's a really bad joke about having an automatic tranny.

As for orbisan's comment, I agree that some subtle jerking around in a manual transmission car is to be expected. It's just the way it works. You have variables like how fast you step on and let your foot off the clutch how well you are able to move the shifter through the motions. It's just life.

The jerking in my car isn't subtle, but the shift knob travel is what concerns me. Shouldn't it NOT be pulling back? My sister's MX-6 never pulled like that and neither does any other manual car I've driven. I can't imagine it's normal for the knob to tug when you push or release the throttle in 2nd.
