CD player error ER1 ?

So...I go to get into my car to go to work tonite, and pop a CD into the CD player (stock one). It starts making a bunch of funky noises, Er 1 comes up on the screen and it spits the CD out. I was just listening to the thing this morning! Has this happened to anyone else?

Not me. But your stock head unit is four years old. Maybe it's time to upgrade.

Hmm...I'm not to sure about err 1 but I have gotten an error before. I think it was like 4 or something...it could have been 1. Yeah, my advice get a new head unit. Go to Target or Stall-mart and pick up a $99 Pioneer. Even if you have stock speakers you will hear a difference. Otherwise you might want to contact

It means it can't read it. Either because of:

1. It's in the wrong format ex. Mp3, Data Disc but it's probably not the problem
if you've played it before.

2. Your lense if full of dust. Buy a cleaner for like 15-20$ it works wonders.

3. Your disc has too many scratches in it to read the first track.
Solution- burn a new disc.

Good luck finding your solution

ive had that issue over this winter cuz of the cold from what i could tell, the disc wouldnt be "foggy" from the cold but as soon as my car warmed up and/or the disc did too it would play fine

dunno thats just my observation from getting Er 1 for no reason

Thanks for the info, looks like its time to get a new head unit. I wanted to get one anyways, but know I've got a good reason to.

Strange, I get the same thing too sometimes for no reason. It usually happens in the mornings. I've been wondering if it was just condensation on the lens and disc or if my HU was going out. Oh well, I agree with the new HU idea anyway. Stock is garbage. actually, anything that doesn't play MP3 is garbage IMO. Might i suggest a pioneer or alpine HU?
