Angry Blowing Power Window Bus Fuses....

I am new to the forum and have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I haven't found anyone who is blowing the power window bus fuse yet. So to begin, the fuse blew as soon as it touched the posts. I am getting 31 amps when the car is off and 37 amps when it is running. I have disconnected all the window motors and the switches at the doors and nothing changed. Is there a relay somewhere inbetween the fuse panel and the main switch? The plugs at the passenger and drivers doors were all gunked up with dielectric grease or silicone and it had turned black on the bottom. I cut and fixed both harnesses and nothing seems to work. We have had a lot of rain here over the past couple of days but this is the only fuse that blows. I have spent 2 straight days working on this mess, does anyone have any suggestions? It is really hot now and the air conditioning is nice but really bogs down the car and I can't enjoy the nice weather with the windows down! Thanks for any help you have..........

You have a multimeter I'm assuming since you know the amperage. Unplug the the power windows and test each on the pins to ground and follow it back from there.

Easy enough to do with time, I was hoping someone has seen this already and had a helpful hint or possible fix before I tear all the panels off again. The amperage is constant even with the car turned off so I think it may be in the engine compartment or the fuse panel itself. I don't think there should be power to the window switches with the key turned off. Anyway I will pull the fuse box tonight and check for water......

Are you sure you're reading your ammeter right? 31 amps is a heck of a lot for a power window motor. It's no wonder the fuse blew... gotta be a short somewhere.

It was a direct short, the back of the fuse panel under the dash where the relays plug in had some shotty wiring. I pulled the relay and fixed the wiring in the back and the problem went away. I am finding all kinds of short cuts taken at the factory with the wiring. I guess I finally have an excuse to get an EVO!! Anyway thanks for the help.........

I got lots of excuses to get an EVO but sadly excuses have no cash value.
