Exclamation Tailight Problem *Wiring Perhaps*?

Hello, thanks for looking at this thread. My problem is that when I turn on my lights for night driving in my 2003 lancer oz rally, the headlights light, the taillights USUALLY light, but now only 1 of the tail light's stay contiunally lit like they are supposed to be. So right now only my front two headlights (normal) and only one of my rear taillights are continuasly staying lit up. But the wierd part of my problem is that when I brake, Both tail lights light up. So today i went back to take off my tail light and I checked the one light because thats what I thought the problem would be, but I realized the brake light is the same as the "continual" light that stays on when my lights are on. So I was trying to figure out what could possibly be the probelm.

-Maybe wiring? but why would it just randomly stop working...

Thanks for looking again, and please post any help you can give

It has to be the wireing. Make sure all the wires are tight into the plug and nothing is loose. Because the reg light and brake light is the same bulb it has to be wireing in this case.

I got the same problem with my driver side taillight, but all I have to do is tap her on the azz and she lights right up, So i think it may be the wiring in your case casue it seems like it in mine, but I need to see what I can do, the dealership will try to rape me to fix it! 40 bucks to put taillights in! LOL!

Im having a lighting/wireing problem too...

I just installed DEPO Mitsubishi Lancer 02-03 Altezza Taillights on my 2002 Lancer ES and when I put my car into reverse my right side blinker light comes on (on the dashboard its faintly lit, but doesnt blink) I had my ebrake on and got out of my car and looked at my tail lights and the right side blinker is faintly on but also doesnt blink. When I get out of reverse, it acts like normal. It also blinks perfectly fine when I put my turn signal on.

I copied the same senerio above but unhooked the right side tail light and the problem went away...but when I hooked it back up, problem came back!?

I was also just told that when I step on the breaks, my backup lights go on...

If this is a wiring problem, I dont know how to fix it cuz for the tail lights you just plug the bundle of wires into the other plug of wires...you cant make a mistake!?

Could the aftermarket tail lights be defective??? (I kinda doubt they are?!)

Anyways, thanks for the help!!

Xanderracings problem is the bulb. Its a single bulb but it has dual filiments in it. Change the bulb and your problem is fixed.

Kidtricksters problem is def wiring. In the plug or in the harness itself the reverse light wire and the blinker wires are crossing. Because blinkers are Ohm load relays when you get a short the blinker will glow faintly.

Just my 2cents

Is that easy to fix myself? I looked at the wiring...but all looked good to me and I didnt wanna start screwing around and make the problem worse or something.

Thanks!!
