That eliminator is really just a spacer...it's not neccesarilly gonna turn the CEL off. I was just talking to somebody on here who has the same setup as me, but with the CEL eliminator, and it doesn't work for him either.

I just put my new headers/downpipe/test pipe/catback on and my CEL is also on. Doesn't really bother me though, I'm gonna leave it be.

Very common mistake that people make is putting the cel eliminator on the header. If you put it on the second cat, where it is supposed to go, you will not get a cel, or at least not a cel related to the header install.

You better do it asap because the cel eliminator tends to get stuck on the header because of exhaust leaking through it. Some people on here have had to take there car to a mechanic just to get that bastard off of there. When I did it, yes I'll admit it, I had to take a pipe wrench to it to get it off and it was not easy!!! You will eventually get a cel too.

I was refering to you saying that you don't have a cel now with the eliminator in the wrong place. If you put it on the second cat, which you should do as soon as possible, you definately will not get a cel.

Ok... well finally finding out that the damn thing goes in the 2nd cat, i took it to the muffler shop to make the switch... the damn thing wouldn't come off... so when it did, it decided to tear off instead. I had to get em to plug the damn hole up, and make a new hole right above it to put the O2 sensor in... then i had to get em to weld the now broken spacer to the 2nd O2 sensor pos. Check engine light dissapeared... but after i started the car up again..its back again..... WHAT GIVES????

Well I hate to tell you I told you so, but.......ah I can't do it!

I hate to say it but if they tapped another whole in your HEADER (notice the no "s") they might have screwed it up. The original spot on the header has a spacer about the size of the cel elimniator, which is where your O2 sensor goes. If they didn't duplicate that when they tapped into the header for the new O2 sensor location then now you have a design flaw. You also had them weld the spacer on the cat, which I'm surprised they did, and that could have changed something. The best thing they could have done, again, which I'm surprised they didn't do, is just drill out the eliminater that was still in there, tap the whole, and your header is as good as new. Then, just buy another eliminator, they aren't expensive, and put that on your cat....see, no welding, drilling wholes that don't belong etc.. Well good luck with that baby now

Hey is it true that the original space for the O2 sensor is as small as the CEL eliminator? Can someone else see how much the O2 sensor goes inward to the headers on their set of stock headers or aftermarket headers?

If you really want to get rid of the CEL just get a new bung welded behind the cat and move the second sensor there. Then you don't have to mess with spark plug anti-foulers or whatever it is they are using for a CEL eliminator. You could even get a bung that comes with a plug so you can put the plug in the bung you take the sensor out of.

You know, it is entirely possible your O2 sensor(s) went out, especially not having the eliminator there in the first place. They are pretty cheap on the net ($70 with plug), may want to try new o2 sensors.
