Angry Wrecked 03 OZ Lancer

Damn them old people driving these days. So I have a question, I just got into an accident this morning with my 03 Lancer and it was the other guys fault. I need a new bumber, hood, headlight set, grill, and passenger side front fender. Should I go to the dealer for these parts, or should I look into after market for the hood and bumper, and maybe even headlights? Oh yeah oh course I am going to need a paint job on top of it. Another question to the minds on Evo.net, are the aftermarket parts less expensive then the OEM? I am looking at getting what ever I can for the damages, and I want to take them to the bank. I also need an alignment. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Thanks for the help all.......

I'd get an aftermarket hood, grill, and bumper. Try eBay for the headlight.

Yeah, it's time to go aftermarket with your hood and bumper.

Well I have a friend that owns his own car club/ shop, and he said he would do the work. He specializes in VW and Audi, but said he would make an exception for me. what are some good aftermarket parts for the hood and bumper. he can get parts at cost and will not charge me extra for them. he also said that there was about 2000 worth of damage, but you should see the other car, f**ked it up, about 8 grand for them to fix and the best part, it was their fault.

For a hood, I'd get a DG Motorsports carbon fiber hood or go to importfan.com and search for "Lancer". For the front bumper, try maybe Kaminari.

Only problem with going aftermarket is that you have to pay out any additional work it takes to get it to fit. So if you go fiberglass it costs a lot to pay for it.

I was just looking at the kaminari one on the internet and i do not know if it is the black wheels that make it look bad or what, but i think i made up my own mind on the kit, i think i am going with the full apex kit, sharp looking i might add . thanks for the website you guys are a lot of help. I saw a left headlight on ebay a few weeks ago Find a wrecked car hit from the left for right hand parts and vice versa. That's how we're building the mustang. But yeahm if you want aftermarket parts, now's the time to get them

I would get the damaged price from a few places. Ask you insurance for the cash to fix it yourself (which some insurance companies will do). Than i would get it aligned. Than i would buy a evo 7 hood, headlights, tail lights and fb, rb, ss.

volkswagen tech haha yeh i like the kaminari kit alot! it gets my but the wing for the kit does not... i'd to an EVO 7 wing on your car if you want a new wing too but you;re ognna need someone to do the body work on the trunk to fill the hols for the orignal wing. uhh go carbon fiber on the hood! i would liek to have someone hit me, but in that case i would sell the car... i don't like driving cars once they have been in accidents, that is why my 2000 celica went after only owning it for 2 years, but if you don't mind then all the luck best of it to you

I suspect that depending on how insurance works in your state, you might be stuck with whatever process and amount the old fart's insurance company will pay for.

If they will just write you a check based on estimates, great! You have options! But in my experience in CT and CA, this is unlikely. You take the car to the dealer, they fix it, and the insurance company pays them directly.

Unless the guy doesn't want to report it and gives you a check based on estimates...

Either way, have the dealer check out the damage. There might be more than you think...

Also, expect the other insurance company to fight back and say the accident was 25% your fault, etc etc, bs bs bs yada yada blah blah.

It's not a fun experience. If you can get the old fart to just write you a check based on the dealer estimate to fix it, that's ideal.

Good luck.

BTW, what state are you in? If we know that, someone from that state who has been through it can probably help you better.
