I am from Las Vegas, and the cop wrote her the ticket. Her insurance company contacted me first saying that it was her fault but I told them that I would contact my insurance to make the claim. Now my insurance company is not paying for a new hood or bumper, they are only paying to have it repaired. Which sucks for my case because now I have a brand new car that they want to put bondo on. I think I am going to take it to a legal office and see if they can force them to replace anything because bondo cracks, new hoods and bumpers do not. It pisses me off it is not like my insurance company is paying for it, hers is so she should have to pay to make it like new again. Just parts alone I was quoted 1600, and then when my insurance company appraised it they said that 1400 would fix everything. That is paint, parts and labor. This really sucks because I wanted to get my body kit and have it put on instead of the sotck kit, but now I can not afford it, and i will have bondo instead of kit. STUPID INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Don't know how it works in Nevada, but I'd fight to have the parts replaced, especially if it's a new car.

But regarding your mods, as much as it sucks, it's sort of hard to get mad at the insurance company just because you aren't profiting from the crash...

Here in Cali, they calculate the cost to replace the body panel(s) and parts, and paint and labor.

You sure about that? My partner banged up his 996 fender and they repaired, not replaced it. The quote said "repair" not "replace." Maybe it was just in your case?

I suspect the insurance company is just doing it the standard way, by the books. If you push for replacement, or get the body shop that did the quotes to say replacement is the only choice, you might get your way...

well I am going to try and push for replacement. I am going down to the legal office on base (I am in the Military) and I am going to talk to one of the lawyers. It is a free service, and from what I have heard the legal office has had problems with my insurance company in the past. we will see. right now I am getting fed up with the whole situation and just want it fixed.

Sweet Kits for the Lancer. They sell front complete kits (front and rear bumper, side skirts and grill) for 1600 Canadian, cheaper US obviously. Buy that and get an OEM hood.
