if you simply UNPLUG the o2 sensor and take the whole cat out it makes life a lot easier. let some liquid wrench soak on it the day before you take it off. if that isn't sufficient; use a torch to heat it up.

Yeah, +1 for unplugging the sensor from the center console instead of cutting the wires.

Incidentally, I ended up having to cut the wires anyways in order to extend them and flip the cat around. I used those crimpy things to put them back together and they didn't work at all. Was getting some weird codes, so I soldered the wires and everything is fine now. I wonder if people are having trouble with spliced wires because they are loose? If so, soldering is prob a good idea.

One other thing, if you are going to buy the sensor removal socket, make sure you get the right size. If it's even a little too big it will strip your sensor...or so i've heard.

-i had that problem too. you get a code for "heated o2 sensor circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 2)" ...it's a pain in the @$$.

-it's a 7/8in socket.

All I used was a 7/8in socket and a breaker bar took a little coaxing but it came off.
