now im a member on many forums whether it deals with rx7s, evos, or just lancers. what ive noticed is that many hid kits are functional but do not function like the stock HID's in the evo. To be elaborate, just go to wikipedia and type in high intensity discharge.

now from what i hear silverstar bulbs work, but not as long as normal bulbs do. there's also the hid kit, people buy from GB's on the site, but that as well, is inaccurate. now because i do highway driving everyday, and since not everyone can avoid big rigs, i use a protective covering for my headlights. mind you, it gives you the look of tint, but not the same level of tint as far as windows go. Granted, i do lose a small amount of light output(how much, im not entirely sure). anyways, since buying "projectors" off of ebay is risky, what do you all suggest? ive been doing research, and im curious as i have no seen many solutions.

i came upon a thread started by a guy in cali with the powerful-est auto lancer but the pictures did not come up. if anyone can help me with a solution to this problem many of us have, i'd appreciate it. anyways feel free to let me/us know.

thanks.

I have the Silverstar bulbs. They work AWESOME. If yu don't wanna spend the money on an HID kit, I suggest getting them.

I have a set of StreetGlow ultra whites that i picked up at a truckstop for 30 bucks about a year ago and they are still going strong. You can REALLY tell the difference between them and the stocks. Not only is the strength of the light increased but so is the light quality with their light being really white instead of the yellowish light you get with the stocks. Also they look cool. lol

On another note where did you get the tint protective film on your headlights? I have been looking into doing something like that on both my headlights and tails.

As soon as my regular Silverstars burn out, I'll upgrade to the Ultras! Sylanvia, believe it or not, has a great customer service dept. Burnt one bulb out in a month, and they said send it in. They sent me 2 bulbs and they paid for return shipping. COOL !

PIAA Xtreme Whites could do too...
Although not HID, I replaced the stock bulbs with PIAA Xtreme White Plus and they do a great job... together with some Hella Halogens. That was in my previous car, though...

I don't get why people think those Xenon bulbs are actually HID's, they are just normal halogen bulbs using Xenon and Krypton gasses with a blue film on the glass.

HID's require ballasts, and some wiring work. They also require real HID bulbs. There is no filament in HID's. If your so called "HID" lamps are less than $150 , chances are they are just blue coloured halogen bulbs. If they have the same wattage rating as your oem bulbs, they will not provide more light, they just make it more cooler in colour.

On ebay, they sell HID kits that are around $200, and they fit right into our 9007 sockets, and still provide a hi-beam with little wiring work, (but totally reversable).
