Something wrong with brakes?

Hi guys, I am brand new to these forums and I have a quick question. When ever I brake (usually in the rain this happens) my brakes feel like a ABS is kicking in but im not even braking that hard. I have a 03 lancer oz rally it has 92k kilometers on it, and no modifications as of yet... Anything I should be worrying about in the near future?

If you're talking about this "feeling" being kind of like a pulsing then your brake rotors might be wrapped. Get new brake pads and have your rotors turned at the local parts store.

I was told the complete opposite. OEM rotors are thick and have plenty of life. In his case though, if the rotor is warped, I wouldn't turn it. I'd change it without hesitation.

Rotors can be baught for cheap. Go to your local PartSource Store. They have different grades of rotor. Rotors will go from 20$ a piece to 100$ a piece. I'd rather drive with a 20$ rotor than drive with a warped one. Don't be cheap. Brakes aren't an option, they are a necessity. Don't drink beer, or don't smoke whatever you might smoke for a week and get them brakes fixed.

unless you got a brembo brake system, then yes rotors are very expensive

Welcome to the regular Lancer portion of this message board. No such thing as Brembo on this grocery getter.

I had the same issue with my stock rotors... if the rotors haven't been re-ground, you can take them into the dealership and get them refinished. Check on the cost of it however, since you can get a brand new set of aftermarket drilled/slotted ones for about $80 from ebay. Definitely sounds like warping. All in all, I'd say upgrade to some aftermarket's... the braking increase is very noticable. Good luck!
