Low Idle

Ok so here is my problem. I went cheap and bought a Lancer instead of an Evo. No just playing. But seriously, my 02 Lancer ES has always idled around 900-1k. Recently it has been idling around 500-600. This was not too big of a problem however, when I put it into gear (automatic) the revs drop around 200 and the car is frequently shutting off. I first noticed this when the car shut off going around a slow turn. Since then, I have checked the spark plugs and wires, and while one plug was gapped wrong, I adjusted it and the problem persists. Any ideas.

Change plugs, inspect and change wire plugs if needed, inspect and change coils if needed.

Your issue sounds "fire" related.

Run a bit of Seamfoam in you Intake Manifold and fuel lines. It will clean the crap out of it, and may help with your problem.

Could be as simple as un-hooking the battery to reset it...? Try that "free" mod first!

coils are 100 bux each, i had to replace mine twice. Usually u get a misfire code if ur coils are dead... i have the same problem, but when i put my car in neutral, i get really low idles, and even my oil light starts to flicker .. isn't there a way to increase idles.. id like mine to sit at 900.

like right on top of the throttle body, on the right of the bell shaped thing, there is a flat rubber plug.. remove it, and turn the phillips screw counter clockwise until you get the idle you want it to be. then put the plug back on there. U should reset the ecu too cuz now when im in neutral, it idles higher than it does if im driving. which is weird.

You could also try cleaning or replacing your air filter. If it is too dirty (and restrictive) it will cause your idle to drop.
