FIRST of all, it's extremely dangerous to stop and reverse on the freeway (even if you were on the side of the road). i hope there werent any other cars around (or cops). i've seen people get blasted from behind because they missed their exit and tried to back up and get off the freeway. not only that but it's illegal.

Anyways, now that's done and over with.

Keep us posted on what the problem was. Hopefully it isnt something w/ all the new lancers. i'm supposed to be picking mine up thiss week.

Do you have a CVT? It sounds like you were still rolling backwards when you put in drive. This may have cause the engine to shut off to protect the car from getting transmission damage. If you come to a full stop when reversing and wait to engage drive, you should be fine. I heard a couple other people on the forums talking about this and it seems to be a protective measure, nothing else....

Yeah, its called stalling your car. If you notice when you turn your car on before you start it the battery light is always on (thats why it was on in this case, it put it into the same pre-start state). Try not to stall your car next time.
