Front end clanking sound
Hey guys I have an 03 ES and whenever I go over any little tiny dip or bump in the road on my passenger side my front wheel area had this clanking? sound coming from it. I cannot for the life of me find the problem. I took the wheel off along with the brake caliper and retorqued every bolt under there and put it all back together double checking it all. I did this twice and still the noise persists what am I missing???!! Thank in advance guys
Does it sound like plastic rattling? If so, I have that too. I'm PRETTY sure it's that plastic cover thing on the underside of the car. My car seems to be missing a few of those plastic things that keep it together.
Same on my 2002. Seems like a metal clanking when you hit bumps. I've crawled around tightening anything that would, which was really nothing. I also pounded around with a rubber hammer looking for anything loose. Also nothing.
03Lances, can you see if you are applying brakes while hitting the bumps if the sounds stops or lessens? Mine seems to.
I found a thread here somewhere that mentions the drop links may be worn out and cause this noise when hitting bumps, but when you jack the car up and look, you really can't visually see it. Then they go on to say that you can't reproduce the rattle underneath yourself because there is torsion arm tension on that point so it's not loose and never really at rest. Only the weight of the car is enough to rattle it. That's a possibility, but mine lessens when I have the brakes on... I think.
All I know is it sounds really bad.
