hesitating and loss of power, already?
yea its so accurate you cant press the gas down too fast have to have a robot foot to feel for the sweet spot cause it changes. mine is already learning my driving and feels like another part of my body :-)
first off, i would like to say hello to everyone, im new to the site, but not to dsm's. ive had 2 2gnt eclipses before this lancer.
anyways, i dont know if anyone else is having this problem or not, but its a GTS with with cvt and fast key, but like if im stopped, or crusing, and give the car gas, it will hesitate for a second, almost feels like a misfire, then it will go again, but will feel sluggish and have no power, and i have to floor it just to get it to go. it also seems like if i give it a little bit of gas, it isnt doing anything at all? the rpms dont move, or maybe just enough to notice the needle move... perhaps the throttle cable is loose or something?
its only got 400 miles right now, and ive had it for 2 weeks now, and its been doing it for most of the time. i even got into an arguement with my gf over it, she was yelling sayin the car is fine, its brand new, and if i do anything to screw it up, she will never talk to me again, then i let her drive it just because she wants to, and lo and behold, she says the exact same thing, so im not just crazy

Its called 150hp
well i took it to the dealer today, and the guy drove it with me in the car, then i left it so i could go to work, but he said he drove another one, and it drives the same way, so he called the mitsu hotline or something, and they said that it is just a characteristic of the new lancers. i was so pissed when he said that because the guy i work with, his isnt like that, so its just a load of bullcrap, so im just gonna drive the thing hard from now on, maybe it will get used to that?
also, there is some kind of recall, something about the rear door seals leaking, i dunno. they just found out about it yesterday, and dont even have the parts and had to order them, but everyone should check into it, and get it fixed, even tho i havent had a problem, its free, so might as well take advantage of it

i thinks your just not use to driving a cvt transmission...it is a way different feeling cause they are no gears...i found when i test drove one you dont really feel it accelerating...its just weird cause pretty much all it is a big rubber band stretchin out
yeah man, but i wouldn't drive it hard to get it "used" to going fast, if that was the case my lancer would be WICKED instead of a money pit due to my misuse :x hope the problem gets resolved.
I test drove the cvt over the week end and did a lot of research on it, the reviewers at edmunds.com said all the same things that everyone here has been mentioning. They got the cvt to move to like 8.3 at 89 mph I think
they used the paddle shifters for 1st through 4th/5th and then slammed it into automatic mode. Overall the cvt got really bad reviews. I went with the manual tranny. Even then it is still kinda like you are saying kinda sluggish in lower gears ((at lower rpms)) really kicks in at around 3000-4000rpm I find myself cruisin at 80 more often than I should
I'm gonna get popped by the highway patrol.

You just gotta get the CVT to high RPMs. There is a way. I almost got 0-60 less in 8 seconds the other day. Me and a friend of mine were taking turns with a stop watch and I got it to 8.1 sec. He got it in less time, like 7.9 sec. But the first gear whined so much, we were kinda taken back. My man is from Puerto Rico and been street racing since he was 14 years old and he only drives Honda. He is very familiar with the I,V-TEC & MI-VEC families.
It's just first gear that we keep getting frustrated at. Trying to get first gear into the 6000 is sluggish. But for some other reason, after that, getting to high RPMs in the 2nd, 3rd is easier to get to then the first.

okay .. good 0-60 times with an auto = power brake
cvt is a learning trans so yes you will have to drive it harder for it to learn then when you start planting your foot you want more rpm and to get going
yes auto's typically do have a little less initial accel then a manual but the CVT doesn't suck up as much hp as a typical auto.. so yeah the 1st gear and the stall of teh converter probably suck a little
also not that it matters much.. but there is no throttle cable.. atleast as far as I know it's a drive by wire.
the engine ecu of cars like the grand national were kinda teh same.. theywould actually got faster after leaving the dealer lot.
learning engine/trans are kinda a ***** to get used too .. but you can see some gains if you drive it like you want it to react .. although that hesitation thing kinda perks my intrest, cause it shouldn't do that..

well its still doing this, and i figured id update. sometimes its real bad, like i will floor it, and its as if i never even touched the gas, it will just sit there and not do anything til it makes up its mind and decides to go. sometimes its fine, and will go as soon as i touch the gas, but that is usually when i first start the car in the morning, but after it warms up thats when it does it, and its annoying and it could be dangerous, like if i tried to pull out onto a busy highway expecting to go, and it just sits there moving as if i were pushing the car, i could be hit by someone because the car wouldnt go fast enough to pull out. its so annoying, i freakin hate it because i know something isnt right, it shouldnt do this, but the dealer says its just a characteristic of the car, thats bull crap, i think the tranny is screwed up, or something with the stupid wireless throttle...

why don't you get him to sit with you and drive in it.. and show him.. and if he says all 08 lancers are like that.. then if he still doesn't believe you.. test drive another lancer with him in it.. and show him the differences...

Are you in auto mode or paddle shift mode?
Have you tried downshifting to get in the right gear and see if that helps?
I did notice that alot of newer vehicles have a very dead pedal feel to them....
Yeah, I've got the CVT and the responsiveness in first gear is really quite horrible. But now that I've got my RRM SRI, Exhaust, and Lightweight pulley I am quite satisfied with the takeoff and responsiveness. It really helps a lot.
The CVT/ECU are learning. This means it records your patterns of throttle input, manual shifting, etc. If you think it learned 'badly', pull the cable on the battery for 15 minutes then start over. Either way, you have to be consistent in how you use the car. For myself and my wife i have to get on her to drive it like I do... other wise I can tell if I haven't driven it for a while and she has, it's far more pokey and gentle on shifting, etc.
