blackout tail lights

im using vht nite shade and i blackout my tail but they look dual, would a clear coat make them shinney?

my process was wet sand (2000 grit), paint until they reached my desired tint

y would u need to wet sand it? theres no paint already on it? and i think u mean dull not dual. i would think that putting clear coat on it would make it shine but. its not a normal paint. so im not sure if the clear would adhere to it. u should go get the new killz clear coat. it works awesome and it can be held upside down with no problem if that makes a dif but try it. whats the worst that could happen? u gotta sand down and restart?

i used the same stuff on my last car.. you have to wet sand some layers off, then purchase clear coat that comes in a spray can... do small applications, then wet sand the final finish... will look very nice once it is done..

You did yours very very dark, and will actually get much darker when the clear is applied so make sure you do some wet sanding before the clear... Also the innitial wet sanding helps the clear to stick to a good surface... trust me

i got Krylon Cristal Clear Satin, and this made my tail look goofy.

I dont know what TO use but I bought that for my grille and I dont think that that is actually a clear coat. had to re-sand and start over
