Won't start

Here is my story.

I'm driving home from work, and my rpm gauges starts to act crazy. Jumps back and forth. It dies; just rpm gauge. Right after that my car starts to jerk. When I let go the gas it's fine; I press gas to drive my rpm gauge jumps like crazy and car jerks. Finally I got home.

The next morning car won't start. It cranks fine. New battery and alternator. Voltage on afc shows fine. When it cranks, it won't start and black smoke shoots from the tailpipe. That tell me that I have no spark, but no spark don't explain nothing about the stupid rpm gauge.

I have been told that my cas is bad. I have changed that, no result.

My mechanic said that it something wrong with my ignition system?!?!

Anybody had that problem. I have checked my spark plugs 2 weeks ago and they were perfect.

Please help.

Did you check to see that you are getting spark from the coils? Pull the plugs out and make sure they are firing when the car is cranking over.

Seeing that I just fixed a similiar problem with my Civic (replaced the distributor), trying replacing a coil pack. Might as well get new sparks while in there too...

Thanks. If I'm not getting no spark from non of the plugs then tha means coil packs? What about if I'm getting spark for example in 2 of them?

^I bet it was...cuz mine was going crazy! I bet it was the ignitor in mine; but on the lancers it'd be just the packs. Look on the boards here, junk yards, online parts sites, dealership...in that order.

Good luck!

BTW, Shark...I got a "new" Reman entire dizzy for $71 shipped. Hope the repair doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

rockauto.com has coils for $68.79 each. i've ordered lots of things from there and they get stuff out to you pretty quick.
