CAI Problems

I recently installed a Injen CAI into my 06 Lancer ES, installation went fine but when I idle the engine it becomes really rough and sometimes stalls. I left the battery unplugged for a few mins but it's still doing it. I have no idea what else could be wrong.

when you install an intake, you need to let the ECU relearn everything properly.

you gotta disconnect the battery for 10 mins. then when you reconnect it, start the car up, and let it idle for about 20 mins. you may have to give it some gas to keep it running.
then go drive it around for 20 mins to let the ECU learn everything.

then turn the car off, and turn it on again to make sure it starts fine. after that it should run fine

after about 200 miles the ECU will have completely learned everything

+1 to that, or check and see if you plugged your MAF back in xD

Ah nice, resetting the ecu fixed my idling problem. I have a CAI, but didn't have any problems till I got some corrosion on my battery terminals and it wouldn't crank. Evidently it disconnected my battery long enough to reset the computer and I never let it idle enough to set itself properly.

Thanks for the info guys!

Okay so its been like 250 miles since I've reconnected the battery I've let it idle and driven it around and everything hoping that it would go away. BUT I'm still having the same damn idling problem, its still idling really rough but it doesnt stall as much. I've talked to a friend of mine who's a mechanic and he's telling me I need to find an aftermarket MAF sensor. I've looked all over the internet, and i dont think they even sell them for lancers. I have no idea what to do!

i'm betting something isn't connected properly. You don't need a new sensor unless you damaged the old one.

also did you remove the MAF restrictor plate? if you did it would cause serious idle issues.

take some pics of your setup
