trouble starting up
i have a problem with cold starts when i turn the key the motor get up to 1800 or around there but it has a noise that like a radleing sound but its just around 1500 1200 rpm`s and it just goes away after it get warm dose anybody know what that could be cuz i went to the dealer and they said that that`s normal and also when i brake hard its like one of my brakes dont have pads its like there stoping with only the steel part of the pad and when i took it to the dealer thay said that there was nothign rung but i didnt see the dust wiped of the wheels when you take it of the car so i think he just said that for me to leave
its happen to me maybe twice in the past 3 months i have had the car, its only one crank. it could be for a lot of reasons. Spark plug design, temp, low spark discharge from starter system.
so long as you are not having to do more then 1 crank to get it started. i would classify it as normal.
2 cranks or more is something to worry about

It would be nice if you guys specified what model you got CVT or Stick. To see if there is a correlation between this incident. It has never happened to me but it is nice to know this is happening. I have manual.
Sounds like its a warm weather issue... Cant wait to see what this car will do in the cold, cold weather. I think i will take mine off the road and drive my truck instead.
But, just a quick question, do all the people experiencing this problem have the FAST key? Post up...

This could be a myth but, i think driving your car every day you own it keeps it alive.
I never let my cars sit over time or sit out for a season.
I have a honda accord with 500,000 km and a 2001 mazda with 230,000km. and they are driven everyday.

My lancer is GTS CVT ..no FAST key just regular gts. I haven't had the problem happen since but like you guys had mentioned, my car is used on a daily basis between work and errands. Besides that, the only other problem ive had was the pulling to the left. anyways i guess time will tell as to what happens next. If it happens once more im taking it to the dealer and gonna be like "GIMME A NEW CAR!"

Happened here in both of my GTS's... I have two because they lemoned my first one due to the alignment issue, in case some of you weren't aware. Just had it happen in the new a few days ago and it took 3 attempts before it started. Recalls and TSB's need to start flowing or I'm gonna' get upset.
I've had it happen a few times where it either hesitates on start-up or takes 2 turns to get it started....but it doesn't happen very often.
However, there is an easy fix....
If you'll notice, that only people with the fast key have this problem...and from what I've read and experienced, the problem causing the hesitated start with the fast key is the fact that your cell phone might be intercepting the reception that the fast key is sending to the ignition.
For example, most people have their phone in their pockets or in the center console when starting the car/driving...if you notice, that is when the hesitation occurs.
But to fix it, try this...place your phone in the passenger seat or somewhere more then 3 feet away from the ignition and the car will start fine with little to no hesitation whatsoever.
From what I've hard from Mitsubishi; they will hopefully be coming out with a fix that makes the ignition for the fast key a thicker plastic so that the cell phone does not interfere with the fast key.
