I have a 5 spd ES and I can hear the AC or something whine during acceleration, is that normal?

 

GTS, CVT here and I can't hear anything when its on. Sometimes I hear it engage but no whining. What RPM do you hear it at?

 

Has this been doing on since you purchased the car? Probably just a loose belt...

 

I have heard a whining aswell sometimes while accelerating. Didn't check if the AC was on or not...

 

Yes, it definitely whines. It happens from about 3,000 to 5,000 RPM when briskly accelerating. It is loudest while in 3rd gear. It could somewhat be comparable to what a supercharged car sounds like.

Should I get this checked out???

hmmm mitsu's are notorious for that noise sometimes it kills power all the eclipses have that problem and i've heard of a few lancers too
