EGR Problem...
EGR Problem...
Alright, so I got all of the stuff done to my car about a month or 2 ago but have been fighitng this problem ever since. I was out driving hard on the car the night I got it done... It was idleing perfect and driving like a champ. After about 45 minutes I came to a light and all of the sudden the car started to cam like it had a pure drag cam in it. The engine kept wanting to die and the car would lunge forward at idle.
The check engine light ended up coming on so I took it in and the shop scanned it and it said insufficient EGR flow... Well, vacuum line popped off probably. All vacuum lines were still very securely attached. We ran a diagnostics on the EGR system thinking the valve had gotten stuck or something but it all checked out fine. There was just insufficient vacuum. Normally the number would be around 100 or something by mine was 60... not sure what, but thats what he said. After more looking into it he thought it would just be best to cap the EGR so we blocked it completely off and it runs perfect again. He said he has seen a low vacuum at idle before on cars with race cams but even though this is a VERY mild cam that was the final determination. BUT, we pretty much know that is not the case...
My question is this.
Should I just have the whole EGR system replaced and give that a shot? What else could it be?
Also, I have noticed that my cars power has seemed to be slowly decreasing. I can't even chirp tires anymore when I used to be able to pretty easily. Would this be caused by having the low vacuum? Any help is appreciated.
