Horrible Problem

So, I was going to put gas in my car, only when I pulled on the switch to open the gas tank, the door wouldn't open!!! WTF do I do now?! The black thing pulls away still, but the door stay shut!!! AHHH!!!

But seriously, can get like a screwdriver and pry it open. If it didn't release though don't force it. At that point I have no idea what you should do...

plunger!


maybe try having someone pull the little tab to open it and then you have some lever/tool to try to gently pry it open at the same time.

Dude, that happened to our car @ <5k and we took it to the dealership for a quick fix. They never did say what they did, but I'm not sure if it's a common problem...but it has never happened again.

Have someone holding the lever and open the trap... I broke last winter the little spring that pop the gaz trap when you pull the lever. Without this spring, the trap stay close.

idk if theres something like this in the lancer , ive never looked in mine..but in my old car theres something in the trunk that you can pull, its kinda like an 'emergency' lever or sumthin idrk but...i used it all the time bcuz the thing inside my car was broken..otherwise yea go to the dealer

It's the spring I believe, but where the hell can I get that damn thing? Besides the dealership, because something tells me that my wallet is gonna hurt, lol.

find a similar spring and replace it. It also could be the actual line that snapped.

What line? Line to what? The black peice that holds the door shut still works, that I know, but I just never knew how the door swung open.

The line that connects the pin at the gas door to the lever.
