Who is actually running 80+ watt headlights?

I stuck some purple 80/85 watts in my car and the headlights get rather warm, not burning hot but warm. There is like 500 people on 500 threads (I searched) saying do not run higher wattage bulbs, but have they actually run into a problem on the Lancer? No speculation or friend of a friend of a cousin horror stories here, I want to hear from folks that are actually running these bulbs on a Lancer over a long period of time.

i run a higher wattage bulb. i don't remember what but the headlight cover is very warm if i have had them on for a long time. the only thing i have had a problem with is washing the engine bay and moisture getting into the socket and it shorts out the socket and burns it. i found a product by crc it is a dielectric grease that fixs that problem

I ran a higher wattage for about...7 months, until one of the lights blew out (it was its time to go) anyhow, i got some lower wattage bulbs after i read something about higher ones causing damage. But i didnt have any problems with the last ones.

I run 80/100 in the headlight part and a 100w fog light bulb in the old turn signal spot and moved the turn signal to the old parking light spot. I changed out all the wiring so I won't blow any more bulbs....I musta blew about 5 or 6 before getting smart and upgrading the harness.

looks sweet though ...those front facing turn signals just look better suited for a second set of headlights.
