Should still start even if you have 1 bad coil. It will just run like crap. You heard a popo huh hmm.. Intake pipe and everything is fine? MAF sensor is connected still and working? Any fluids leaking? Maybe a fuel line?

It only takes 3 things for a engine to start. Fuel, Spark, ECU to tell it when to spark.

How about vaccum lines running to the fuel pressure regulator or to the intake manifold?

Good Luck
Chris

it starts to crank like it wants to start, but then it doesn't. There is a shop here owned by a guy on ImportsNC and he has a guy that used to own a Lancer and then stepped up to an EVO, so hopefully then can help me out. Will be giving them a call tomorrow.

Damn it! Bad news! After going more into the engine, they found that my camshaft snapped. He is not sure how it happened and said something about a neutral drop which I have never done and he said he doesn't imagine me doing it, in which he is right, I have no clue how the hell it snapped, not like there is anything putting alot of stress on it! 2008 is not starting out good for me at all! Gonna go play with my kids now and try to forget about that phone call for a bit.

How the hell does a camshaft snap? I would ask to see the camshaft if I were you.

possible bent valves from when we were trying to start it, getting it all replaced anyway. I just want to get the car in good shape and try to make it so I can get a damn 09 Ralliart. I need to be extra nice to the wifey and give her constant reminders of the Outlander that I got her last year, hehehe. Trying to not be pissed about it, but it sucks. The guy doesn't know how it snapped either, he said it should have lasted a few hundred thousand miles. He did say that it seemed a little more brittle than the rest of the stuff in there, which seemed very wierd. I don't think there were any recalls and that is something that I have never heard of happening before on a 4g94. So there goes my damn 65 inch tv for father's day, lol. I can't really seem to find any good humor about this. oh wait, the car still looks good. So y'all just cross your fingers for me and maybe some nice 4B11 action in a ralliart form will come my way.

That sucks man! Only thing I can think of is oil starvation. Maybe a blocked oil orifice?

How would a bent valve snap the camshaft? More importantly, what bent the valves and what shape are the pistons in?

What bent the valves was the shaft breaking, losing the correct timing, and thus a piston connecting with a valve. Need to check the pistons for damage as well.

Yeah I bent 4 valves on my lancer and the pistons were messed up beyond repair.

ok, getting a used head and camshaft. $1300!!! ouch! He did say that the camshaft meaterial seemed a little brittle like maybe something had happened to it cause he knows that i did not do any neutral braking or anything, it is an automatic after all. I mean damn 1300, is a break, but hell I shoulda just shelled out the cash for a new engine or 1200 more for a used one with 22000 miles on it. I'm gonna go punch a wall now and will call Mitsu about the camshaft even though my warranty is up, just to see what they say. Oh and there was no oil starvation, I change it every 5K and I use the Q full synthetic 5w 30. He basically said it is like something out of the twilight zone! I planted the bug in my wife's ear about the 09 Ralliart too, but she is trying to talk me into a Caliber srt-4 or one of the Jeep vehicles with the lifetime powertrain warranty. either way, next car I get will not be some econobox pos! Whatever I get, I'm gonna upgrade all internals before I do anything else!

I've never heard of any camshaft ever doing this. Do you have pics? Was this car bought brand-new or pre-owned?
