Lancer GTS door locks

i was curious if someone found a way around my problem.

first off where i am its real cold in the morning :P so i usualy hop into the car 10 min before i leave start it up and go back inside to finish my coffee before leaving for work.

well with the new lancer i have no way to lock my doors other then use my second key to manualy lock it from the outside and unlock it in the same way ...

what i was wondering is if there was a way to bypass the use of the remote entry to be able to use it even when there is a key in the engin?

Let me know what the dealer says. Do you have the FAST key too? i thought it might be an issue with that about leaving the car on and the key missing... i dunno O_o

If you have the fast key, you unlock the doors with the remote, and before starting the car, lock the doors from the switch on the driver's door. When the car starts, shut the door, and it will remain locked. You will need to use the physical key from the remote to open the door; however.

slightly off topic here, but I think this is the first new car that I've been in with power door locks that doesn't automatically lock the doors when you start driving... is this by design?

i'll try this too... and will let you all know if it beeps at me too..

this is what i've been doing so far... unlock, start the car, close the door, *beeps*, try to lock using the FAST key lock button thing on the door handle, *beeps some more*, try the button on the key, *beeps some more*, say "fk this, its in my garage..." and leave =)

Hopefully your method works GeeTeeEs... maybe i'll get lucky depsite it not working for GTS_rider =D

I've never had a car that did that.

We just tend towards different types of cars, I guess...

To those who want to start the car and then lock it up after... here is how i do it (i figured it out today)

I have a GTS with sun & sound and the FAST key. for those who are wondering.

Now the process...

1. Start the car
2. Close the door (with you inside)
3. Lock all doors
4. Open driver door (all other doors are still locked)
5. Get out and close the door (it will now beep at you)
6. Take out the physical key and manually lock the door (something i have never done untill today O_o)

Now you should be able to walk away happily =). For those more protective of their car... proceed to step 7

7. Check all the doors to ensure they are locked thus ensuring someone doesnt come along and drive away with you car (I do this lol :P)

Hope this works for everyone else that wants it to

That's very possible. However, this is the first car I personally own with power door locks. All of the other cars with power door locks that I've been in belong to friends, and they all have automatic transmissions, and ALL of them (regardless of make) lock the doors when they hit about 5mph in D. Though, I have to admit, none of them have Mitsu's either.

It just struck me as odd when I first noticed that my doors weren't automatically locking when I started driving. It's not a big deal to me, just different
