Something definitely wrong (not getting gas maybe?)

Well, went out shopping today, and as I was going to get heading home, I started the car, and it was idling erratically between 1000-1500 rpm. As I started driving, the situation continued as I was driving. In other words you could feel the car nudging forward, then after a few times the gas would not work, or it wasn't getting to the engine. It kept doing this all the way home. (I called roadside assistance, but all they would have done is tow me home, and I was almost there already, so no point in waiting 45 mins in -40 weather).

Could the gas line be freezing or something? I do have 3/4 tank full of gas, so it's not like im leaving it on an empty tank.

Any ideas?

Throw in a bottle or 2 of heat and change the filter when you get a chance.

umm why don't you get it towed to the dealer...why not use your warranty rather than trying to get people to try and diagnose it online.

Sounds like another relay problem. I had this happen to me twice with the RPM's going up and down erratically while idling, and not getting acceleration when pushing the gas. Seems to happen to in cold weather. You get condensation freezing on the relays and it ****'s everything up!

Definitely take it to the dealer and don't settle for them just leaving it in the garage overnight to dry up the throttle relays (which happened to me the first time). Tell them to replace it with the modified ones. I got mine replaced two weeks ago and it hasn't happened since then.

By the way, I also notice we're in the same city! Which dealer do you take your car to or where did you buy it from?? I suggest not going to Vickar. Horrible service there. Take it to the one at the Waverley automall if you can.

Vickar is 5 mins from my house, where Waverly is somewhere around 30.
I bought from Vickar.

So you had the same problem huh?
This is the first for me, and I figured I'd come on here as I couldnt do anything with it tonight anyway.

^^Are you also in Transcona?

Yeah I got my car from Vickar too... service there has been terrible. They don't give you a loaner car even if your car will stay for quite a while. Just a shuttle service.

So yeah, when you go there, just mention that you're having the relay problem and you know about the Service Bulletin. Insist that they put on the GREEN MODIFIED RELAYS in there.

i got that problem once, it was scary as hell, no matter how much gas you give teh car it wouldn't go not even rev!

For me it was my spark plugs. once i put my originals back in. it never happened again.

Does the new Lancer have electronic controlled throttle? Maybe that could be a factor in this.

Just brought it in, and they'll probably have the car for a day or 2 waiting on the parts. Atleast I get a free rental car in the meantime (which I wasnt expecting).
