self stalling?

its -10 outside and my car started up find and what not…but i’ll be sitting at a light out of gear and all of a sudden my revs will drop to almost 0…then the engine will sound like its about to cut out so I give it some gas just to keep it running...
has this happened to anyone else?

ya, iv noticed this once or twice when it was like -15C here. I do know that most electronic components are pretty much worthless at -20C. I'v done testing on electronics down to -30C and a lot of times problems start coming up at around -10C. Those parts where military grade components...so i would say that industrial components are gonna be more susceptible to cold temperatures. I doubt that mitsu would be getting miltary grade components to make there cars that much more reliable...

i've noticed that after my recent oil change, when i'm sitting at idle... the revs would dip a bit lower than usual for about half a second and go back up...

you might want to check my other post in "Car Won't Even Crank!!!"...not sure how to link to it. It gives me the idea that in all freezing temperatures our cars could have some sort of electrical relay problem.

yea it not just when it's that cold out it started to do it to me the past few days and the other day it was 40 and to day it was just under 30 and my car was doing it. by the way it just started to happen this week.

Id just bring it back to the dealer...sounds like theres more moisture building up on the relays. you could always look for other methods for removing moisture...i dont know of ne of hand that dont involve baking.

ummm... tech moment.

First off, if you had the moisture problem in your fuel-ignition relays, your car wouldn't run or you would think it was running on 1 cylinder before it would quit after 2 seconds.

Sounds more like you have your a/c on and the car surges for a second while the compressor kicks in and then realizes it needs a wee bit more fuel and gives it to the car.

Also after driving my car for a while I believe its normal for the car to drop @ idle a little (split second) and then return due to alternator load, ect.

This is normal and the car is working like it should, unless you hear a ticking or banging, or lower performance/mileage, I wouldn't worry.

This has been another tech. moment
