Trouble from K&N Intake

So I put a K&N typhoon intake kit on my 2002 lancer es a few months ago. After some problems with the idle being screwy and throwing a cylinder 2 misfire(they don't tell you about having to reset the ECU) it seemed to be running fine. Now since my last service(120K) I've been getting the same codes throwing and the associated "bogging down" under more than mild acceleration. Has anyone else had any problem similar to this? I'm thinking it may be something with the plugs or plug wires. I have all next week off and I plan to tear out the interior and install a brand new stereo, for which I was going to post pics and such. So I will have plenty of time to try and diagnose the problem but I really don't want to spend much money. I'm no gearhead but I do have good general knowledge around cars. Any help?

Yeah I did that, but I'm still having the problem. I'm starting to really think it's the plugs

What plugs are you using? and at what gap? When was the last time the filter on the sri was cleaned? The coil packs do go out on these lancers quite often...so just keep that in your back pocket.

if your idle usually goes below 400rpms, it might have been an 02 sensor on your MAF when you install your intake. there's a tiny resistor about .5mm in lngth that is very sensitive to static electricity. if that resistor is broken you may have to replace the MAF.

symptoms that i experienced with a broken MAF:
- rough idle
- occasionally the car dies down
- CEL comes on

filter has less than 5k on it, and I'm not sure what plugs are in and how they're gapped. The idle isn't off, I only experience the problem under above mild acceleration. I just got an e-mail from K&N telling me to call customer service, wow so helpful. I'm going to check the plugs/gaps/wires etc. but I'm not sure exactly how on this car. I'm used to working on my dads 81 chevy truck and my first car a 79 BMW so FWD 4 bangers are a total mystery to me. I checked the how to forum for removing your plugs but the link is dead. Anyone have advice or the basics i'll need? i.e. socket size, extension, etc. thanks

umm u need that thing to gap your spark plugs to oem specs. cost like 90cents. i recommend you use a 6" extension instead of 4". use a "spark plug socket" it's a long socket type with a rubber thingy inside to hold the spark plug after you unscrew it.

sooo what you'll need:
ratchet
spark plug socket 21mm(13/16)SP / 16mm(5/8)SP [i forgot which of those 2 i used
6-8" extension
spark plug gap tool

Thanks, I've read that the plug wires can be delicate any special handling I should be concerned with?

umm do not overtighten the spark plugs unless you want it to be stuck in your engine lol it happend before

remove the battery terminal (should be SOP when doing engine work)

pull the "boot" of the spark plug wire not the "wire" itself

ummm magnecore competition spark plug wires KV85 model# 45182.
and choose either ngk platinum spark plugs or denso/ngk iridium spark plugs. if you're in the dance floor, keep ballin' >.>
