Brakes

I've been noticing this week that when im slowing down from 60mph+ my steering wheel shakes, and i get weird feedback from the brakes.. i had this happen once on my cobalt and the rotors were warped.. do you guys know if mitsu warrants the brakes for a certain period? i know GM warrants the brakes till 12k miles.. i only have 10k hopefully they are warranted.

all you can do it try and see... They might not warranty them by saying you were too hard on the brakes. Which can warp rotors by the heat. So if you make a real hard stop, try not to do it again until they cool down.

Try to negotiate something.

I imagine that brake rotors (like brake pads, clutch, etc.) are considered "wear items" and not covered by warranty. (I'm just guessing; I'm not that motivated to get out my warranty booklet ) However, with just 10,000 miles on the car it is worth a shot complaining to the dealer. Maybe they'll at least compromise and pay half, or maybe they'll just charge you for the labor or just the parts.

i'll take it in this weekend, and ***** at them & see what they say, its kinda ridiculous rotors going already... on my cobalt it was a known problem with the brakes, so it wasn't my driving that did it.. but they fixed it cause i had 8k miles on it.. mitsu service has been good to me so far.

If they will not help you out, you can find a shop that does disc resurfacing. They will even them up for you. Put them back on, and you should feel the difference.
I had it done on my Expedition once, it helped.

I had this too. Here it was a build up of snow and ice above the tires somewhere I couldnt get to. Anytime i went over 50 my steering wheel and brakes would shake a lot. The temperature got warmer and it was fine.

i was talking to someone, they said that often the rotors aren't warped. They have uneven wear, and i should try to try to fix it by doing a panic stop at high speed. Anyone heard of this?

^ I don't think it will help. Hard braking shouldn't be enough to even out the wear on the rotors. But you can try it anyway.

Good luck fixing anything with that.

Take it in. See if the rotors are OK. If they're worn unevenly or warped, they need to be resurfaced.

i brought the car in, they will resurface the rotors next week under warranty. The guy told me that the wheel shine spray i use got on the rotors, guess i need to be more careful or buy the gel applicator instead.

Total lie. That's called "covering their butts" and also "blaming any BS excuse they can." Your wheel shine spray is just fine.
