Grinding noise from left front wheel area
the ones i was getting weren't sealed....
I just bought one this week and it was sealed like on the picture...
i'm hopeful, but then again, my first two bearings were replaced by the dealership by OEMs and that didn't change much....

But yeah, you live in Montreal... Roads are pretty sh!tty over there, there are god damn speed bump on highway 40 when you're coming from Ottawa. Are you ridding really sticky tires?
If you have the stock open differential, only one wheel should spin when the tires are off the ground. You need an LSD to have both spin, otherwise the power goes via the path of least resistance. That does not indicate a problem with your differential at all.
so the first 2 were oem.... then other ones weren't.... the only difference it made was that the OEMs lasted a year, while the non-oem's lasted between 6-10 months...
what got me worried was that the right wheel was offering MUCH more resistance... which in the end was probably due to the defective wheel bearing...
Were they all installed by the same shop?
If the same garage did the job every time, I'd change place. 1 wheel bearing a year isn't normal. You ain't drivin a Jimmy or a Blazer, you're driving a Lancer.

i stick to the current one since he specializes in suspensions, i love his way of working (organized, experienced, efficient), charges cheap and he is honest...
none of that "the bearing is seized, i'll have to charge you 2 hours extra" bull****
i get to watch him work and no 16 year old high school dropout apprentice is touching my car - unlike most other garages/dealerships i've been to....

I went on the Koyo website but couldn't search the part number.
Anyhow... wrong part being installed will lead to premature failure. The part could be Lancer branded but it's obviously not the design Mitsubishi recomands. When you get your next one installed, specify you want SKF bearings, or OEM.
