noticeable grinding/harsh whirring sound in second gear

hey guys,

as the title says, theres a very noticeable harsh whirring/grinding sound when i drive at very low speeds (<25km/h) in second gear. its noticeable enough that there's feedback through the wheel. Has this happened for any one else?

This occurs after the cars warmed up. The sound also occurred two times on sixth gear around cruising speed (60km/h).

the cars done almost 3000kms, with a gentle break in until 1000kms. the car was built in september 09. after breaking in, the cars been driven hard but never WOT.

cheers everyone =)

I get a similar thing in other gears, espescially 5th gear. I think its normal DSG noise.

the tranny at idle will make a slight grinding noise, almost like an idle super charger (roots style). Its due to the tranny always being semi engaged or so i was told by the service manager.

Always experienced this in basically any gear in my 08 GTI (at the higher speeds/gears, road and engine noise drown it out).

Just how it is.

When the automatic shifts from 5th -> 6th at about 37-45 mph it makes a rattly grinding noise...sort sounds like 6th gear might be screwed...
