Unhappy steering wheel problems

Hey guys and gals!!! you have been so helpful with my other car problems that i've decided to tell you guys one more!! lol

heres the problem:

for unknown reasons now, when i drive at about 60MPH or more, i can feel my steering wheel shake, rattle, and roll. its pretty consistent, you predict when the next rubble is going to come, like intervals.

u guys think its the wheel bearing or what? do i need wheel alignment?

Either your wheels are off balance, you have a bent wheel, or if you have aftermarket wheels you may need hub centric rings.

Ya, go get your wheels rotated and balanced. If you have a bent wheel, they will let you know.

generally a unbalanced rim would cause that to happen all the time at a certain speed or above. If you are cruising at 60 and it does it only every so often it is probably more then just that if your description is accurate.

It might be mud in the wheels. I had a similar problem after a rally (no I wasn't a competitor) and it went away when I cleaned the car.

If you want to eliminate the wheels/tires before spending real money, you can get a Roadforce balance on a Hunter machine. Call around, no every tire place has one. Also the pricing varies. That is how I figured out my DD had a bent rim.

I am unsure to tell you the truth. Just a heads up that from your description of it doing it every so often at a certain speed. it probably isnt balancing. If You said when you go 60 the steering wheel shakes non stop. I would 100% say balancing or bent rim, etc.

oh ,i'm sorry. i didn't mean nonstop shaking. i mean. like its starts shaking, then stops. then 10 secs later it starts, then it stops. then 10 secs later it starts again. thats what i mean. sorry i wasn't clear...

If you read he says it's consistant. The reason it may not happen all the time, is different road types may cause him to feel it more than others. (When I say diffferent road types i'm talking newly paved roads or older roads)

Right. I got that. Thats why im saying it probably isnt a balancing issue.

Yeh. Speed and road condition will change how much you feel the wheel being off balance. This is usually the case.

I would say get your wheels rotated and balanced. Its not that pricey and then get back to us.

And thats when you stay at the same speed correct?
If that's the case, it's a bent wheel. Go get your wheels balanced tomorrow, and if you have a bent wheel they will tell you. (It's easy for them to tell because the wheel won't balance correctly)
