09 GTS GG Pinstripe removal

ok, so after about an hour of searching through the threads and posts, I could not find any information on removing the pinstripes from my car. I will post pics when i get home later.

the thing is, is that they're not vinyl pinstripes....they're kind of feel like frosted glass, like a design on a glass door or something.

Does anyone know of a way to remove this?

any help please!!

I'll try to post pics some later today.

the first time I saw my car was they day I drove it home so i really didn't have time to think about it. The dealer probably would've removed them for free.

i'll try a hair dryer (since I don't own a heat gun) and some goo gone....hopefully it works. thanks for suggestions!

I went to the dealership today to get an estimate on removing the pin stripes and he said they were painted on and would need to wet sand it and it would be about 1.5 hours per side. The total came out to be a little over $200.

Wetsanding seems to be something you can do at home. Has anybody ever done this or have experience doing this? i would imagine it would involve using a really fine grit sand paper, spray bottle with water, buffing compound and a buffer? Any help would be great!

You probably could do it yourself, but If it were me, I'd just let the dealer do it because I wouldn't want to risk butchering the paint. That's just me though.

If my options were to pay 200 bucks, or risk ruining my spankin new paint job...

I'd just leave them on. I'll wait for pics, but they can't be that bad right?

they're not horrible...
I'd just rather have them off. but since i've decided i wanted them off, now it seems that whenever I look at the car THAT'S ALL I SEE!!! lol

sorry I haven't posted pics yet. i'll see if I can get some posted tonight after I'm done with work.

But yah, I agree with bawb3. i'd rather spend the money than kill the paint job. even though I was looking at wet sanding the whole car for a wet/mirror finish does look pretty damn appealing....

^^that is teh sex

Those cars look pretty sick, that has to be a hazard driving those in bright sunlight, lol. A paint job like that will be a bit more than 200$ .

I don't understand why the hell the dealer would paint on pin stripes in the first place. My sister's car has them but they're only the stupid sticker type that you can just peel off.

here are some pics of the pinstriping. They're not horrible but I'd rather have them off. I couldn't get good pics of the whole car and still see the pinstriping but it runs the whole length of the car

you can see them if you look closely at the last one. the line under the windows are mostly pinstripe with some glare/shine
