i have an 2002 mits lancer oz rally
and the service engine came on..
the code it gave is
P0763 Shift Solenoid C Electrical

do i need to replace the shift solenoid or what do i need to do?

 

You may be able to get away with just replacing the shift solenoid but it may be more cost effective to just replace the whole transmission with a junkyard unit.

 

I would purchase a new shift solenoid from the dealer. Definately will cost less than a new tranny... Check the connections on the solenoid also. What are your symptoms? any unusual hesitation between shifts?

 

well while on road reducing the speed like on a stop it the shift it sorta kicks and when acceleratin again it takes a more time to get to speed which is speed limit 25..

 

hmmm... pull the solenoid and check the connector. If its dirty then clean the connector with some electrical cleaner or MAF cleaner. DO NOT use brake cleaner or carb cleaner please... I don't have my laptop on me so i cant look up the part number but i believe it is an external assembly on the transmission so you dont have to get a new tranny.

 

where is the solenoid located? do you know.. i heard i need to remove the oil pan

 

it is getting worse

 

if you can wait i can look it up this weekend. gonna be kinda busy tomorrow, thanksgiving and all but if you can wait till friday i will have some time.

The solenoid is in the valve body. If you're not familiar with the insides of transmissions, I suggest you purchase a rebuilt or junkyard unit.

 

like how much is the average cost of a solenoid

when i first got on the car going to the nearby city

coming back, the car wasnt moved for about and hour or so then i went back home

 

So it's intermittently not going into 4th gear. I checked and it doesn't look like Mitsubishi will even sell you the solenoid seperately. A transmission rebuilder may be able to source one, but I'll say it again-- a used transmission is the easiest way to go.

 

Ya i checked and it's all inside the tranny. Theres a whole bunch of them in there. Sucks.
