Squeaking from rear end

I have an 03 lancer oz and ever since i had the progress rear sway bar on, the car makes a little noise. but now it is really loud going over bumps. went in today to the shop to see if it is the struts and the guy said those are fine and it was the bushings on the sway bar. any one else had issues?

doesn't surprise me, they are probably stiff. I imagine there is something that can quiet them though...not sure

Your hands were dirty when you did your install. You let a bunch of crap get inbetween the bar/bushing and now it squeaks like a ****. Remove all, clean the bushing, put some grease on it, clean your hands make sure they're dirt free and install again.

Or if you want to rule out the bar/bushing theory, disconnect the links(the part between the control arm and bar), go for a drive and listen. If no squeak, the bar/bushing is the issue. If it still squeaks, you're sol and your issue is somewhere else.

Wrap the bar with PTFE (Teflon) tape instead of using grease. I had the same problem forever until I did this. The tape is the only thing that will stop the squeaking.

I dont have a sway bar but my car has the same issue. Once I washed it and sprayed down the springs it stop though. If you live in a spot where there is a lot of snow the build up just....well builds up. I bet it is the struts because I hand washed mine the other day and now there is no squeek at all.

According to your profile you drive an OZ. Unless you actually removed the bar, your car got one at the factory.

Why would you want to remove it?
- Get your butt under the rear end of your car
- Remove the "link" between the bar and the control arm
- Remove the bushings attached to the perches
- Watch it!!! the bar may just fall right in your face if you don't hold it while removing the last bolt.

Yea, it was 65 last week like all week, now it dropped back down to 30 again tonight and now my car is creeking again, its something with the cold but seems to only really happen when I drive more then 20 minutes somewhere, or at least gets louder then. You think thats stiff springs or the sway bar? Could you guys refer me to a spot that says how to remove it? Im a n00b obviously and dont know how to do that!

I drive a 2003 oz and my car ever since i got it had that squeak from the rear when the suspension travels. I got up under it the other day and i think it is comming from the sway bar bushings. Is this a common problem?

I also have another problem with my rear suspenson. For some reason, the left rear corner of my car sits like an inch or so lower than the right rear. Any guesses as to what this could be?
