Service Engine Light????
Service Engine Light????
Hey,
My service engine light came on at like 14,800 miles. I have intake and exhaust. Then like at 14,900 i dissconnected my battery and the light went away for like 5 miles then came back on. i thought it just did this around 15,000 miles so at 15,100 i dissconnected the bat again. the light stayed off for like 10 miles and now its on again. Do you think its the O2 sensor? How can i find out and fix the problem. If it is the O2 where can i get one?
thanks
nick

When you reset the ECU, you will erase the error code from the memory. However, your CPU has to go through a complete cycle before the error can be picked up again which can range from a few miles to as many as 80 miles plus. So, although it looks as if the problem went away by resetting the ECU, it was still there all along. Definitely go get a scan done, will take no more than 5 minutes and they'll tell you what code has been tripped, and you can take it from there as far as fixing the problem is concerned.
