Cruise Control Issue
Hello All,
I am having some issues with my cruise cont. on my 08 Lancer.
the light for the cruise turns on on the cluster when I turn it on but I can not set it to a certain speed. Is there any fuse for the cruise contril? If so where and which one?
Thanks for you helps in advance

Are you sure you are doing it right?
First accelerate to the speed you want to cruise at.
Then press the "On" button (the light turns on).
Then press the "Coast set" button and take your foot of the gas pedal.

If there is a fuse for it, you can find out in your owners manual....or by opening up your fuse box and looking at the diagram....there's one to the left of the steering wheel, and I think one under the hood...but if its cruise control, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it would probably be to the left of the steering wheel.....
Yeah. I already checked under the hood and there is no fuse for it. Checked the manual as well but it is not showing any fuse for Cruise Cont. under the hood. By looking on the fuse symbole next to the steering wheel I can not find anything for cruise cont.
When I turn on the cruise, it lights up on the cluster it just will not set at a certain speed so could this be a fuse issue since it turns on?
Please post a diagram to the fuse box next to the steering wheel if anyone has it
thank you so much

It's hard to say then. The fuse box by the steering wheel is on the lower left, about knee level. It just opens up...and on the cover, it has a diagram showing which fuses are for what...
OR since it's an 08, try asking the dealership...How long have you had it? Because alot of states have specific laws about car sales that may apply...If you have a warranty, just take it to the dealership and see what they tell you. That's probably your best bet, since you say you are using it right but it still won't work... :/

Oh by the way I belive this happend right after I removed my VOLO performance chip which was hooked up to the ECU through the OBDII port. Could this be related to that?? Maybe disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it would help?!
you are also aware you have to be going a certain speed before it will allow cruise control (can't use it at lower city speeds) And its not going to be a fuse. All this stuff is tied into the multiple ECU's and modules this car has
I know in my Lancer ES, I have to go at least 30-35 mph before my cruise control will work. Anything lower and it won't. Plus it doesn't make sense to use in city traffic, anyways, with lights to stop at and such..can't use it for long periods of time before you have to stop...
Now what do you suppose you would do once you located the ECU which controls the cruise control? The Engine ECU controls the cruise.
Instead of beating the EECU with a hammer, try this:
1. Turn ignition to "on" while pushing the coast\set button, then within 1 second release the coast button and push ACC/RES button
2. Read the codes indicated by the "cruise" indicator light (blink codes)
1.5 second intervals are "10" digits and .5 seconds are "1" digits
Codes -
15 Cruise control switch system
22 Stoplight switch system
23 ECM and related components
Now why don't you just take it to the dealer? It is warranty for 5 years??

it’s funny cuz I’m having the exact problem or just won’t set no matter speed I’m at ofcourse above 40m/h anyway I tried the owners manual and lots of research cut still can’t find why it won’t set tho
