Another CVT issue
Another CVT issue
This issue is a little different than all the other CVT issues.
I turn on the car, the idles are rough and the car shakes a little and cel comes on. This has been happening for months so that part is normal. Dunno why it does that.
However, When I got on the highway I drove for a little bit around 50-55mph and then tried to speed up to pass someone. The car felt kinda sluggish but i didn't think anything of it. There was an accident on the left hand side so i had to get over to the right lane and slow down. When I slowed down the car got stuck exactly at 3,000 RPMS and wouldn't change if I floored it or let off the gas. I was off the throttle completely and the speeds slowly coasted down from 50 to 30mph but the RPMs didn't budge from 3,000 rpms. I switched it to sport mode and back to try to fix it but that didn't work at all. It stayed at 3,000 rpms no matter what gear I was in. I pulled off at the next exit (Car didn't drop below 3k rpms until i was under 10 mph) and parked and turned the car off, then back on. I rev'd it a few times after turning it back on and it seemed to rev fine to 4,500 rpms. When I got back on the highway, I tried to floor it to test the problem again. When it got to 3000 rpms the car shook a little as if it was a misfire or sputtering but kept going. It felt normal again and until it hit 5,000 rpms and it just stopped going. It felt like I hit a wall with the abrupt reduction in speed. The tachometer was stuck exactly at 5000 rpms and the speed slowly increased as if I was in a 10th gear from 5 mph. I was only going about 65 to 70 mph and usually it accelerates much faster. I just stayed at 55mph (2,500 rpms)until i got to my destination. On the way home it did the same thing with the limit at 5k rpms. I drove a total of about 80-90 miles with this problem and my gas seems to be burning a lot faster, almost half a tank gone with only a 90 mile round trip, 98% on the highway.
Only other conditions I can think of is that its raining a lot, I checked my Injen CAI and everything seemed fine on that. I didn't hit any puddles of water that would submerge the filter.
