cant reach 4rpm

cant reach 4rpm

i have an auto lancer and it can reach 4 rpms. it just happened recently. do u know whats up?

like if i speed up and step on the gas all the way (say from a toll both on the highway) i dont feel that jerk and it wont got pass 3 rpms. it would just go a little bit past 3 but never reaching 4

I'm assuming that you meant to say that it can't reach 4,000 rpm. I have no clue what your question is though, autos change gears according to how much you hit the accelorator.

I am am going to go out on a limb and say that you were driving your auto hard and the transmission just didn't switch over to a higher gear. This used to happen to me in my old minivan when getting on the highway from a dead stop. I would hit the accelorator and the engine would sound all whiney and then after letting up on the gas it would switch gears. Maybe that's what you are talking about??? I don't know.

In an auto you really don't determine what gear you shift into it's the transmission, so if you wanted to be the one choosing the gear you really have to to have a manual.

u got yourself a weird situation there jeff.. do you drive conservatively all the time and rarely gun it? coz i gun it all the time and i hit around 5800 rpms whenever i can.. so you're saying if you try to floor the accelerator, it'll switch gears before you even hit 4k rpms?

I read somewhere that the stock ECU's are adaptive. That's why when I drive around conservatively for a few minutes, i'll come off th stop sign/light slowly. Yet when I drive her hard and get her up to 30 in 2nd gear at 3k rpm i'm able to get her to squeek off the line without trying very hard.
The minivan was just a minivan...need I say more?

which is exactly why i press the accelerator hard into that little plastic disc under the pedal until both surfaces bend, so i never have to bog from a stop. unfortunately, i also go through a tank of gas every 3 days.


but what you're experienceing is the car being used to you driving like a somewhat sane individual. just gunner down the fisrt couple of straights after you start it to set a new shift map. imagine that, better acceleration from driving a different way. THANKS !!!!

i guess you can try to unplug your battery for a few minutes. i wouldnt really know the problem but since you cant find a way to fix it i guess you can try this. does it let you rev it out of gear?

remember to unplug the negative side and not positive unless you wanna have some fun then by all means go positive first.

how many miles do you have on the car? it could be that you need to change the transaxle fluid and filter. it could be that you have too little fluid in the transmission. start the car up, run it around the block. yank the tranny dipstick while the motor is still running and see what the fluid looks like. it should be a crimson red. if it's blackish, change it. if it's low, add more by getting a funnel and adding it through the ATF dipstick.

The same thing happens to my car also but i have manual transmision. it has to do with your transmission or fuel delivery. if you did some mods on your fuel system then i suggest u put it back then yeah reset the ecu by disconnecting the neg side of your batt. by in my case though, i loose threaded the ball something in my cluch...

mines usually shifts around 3k...and now it jumps closed to 4k...so i dont know what the problem is...

so basically, his car won't accelerate..try unplugging your negative terminal for a bit and then put it back on and let it sit for like 10 mins..then go drive the hell out of the car if u can. i dont think it's the ECU tho..

alright it works now... yeh phil i hardly gun my car. i was told to keep it under 4 rpms... i just dont like the sound cause it seems as if i'm pushing it too hard (its not really a sports car more like a hooked up familysedan). the fastest i've ever gone was 80. hahahaha. i F'ed up my integra before thats why i wanted an auto

glad to hear its ok now. I sometimes gun my car and sometiems dont, depends on my mood and traffic, but i also have an auto and whenever i hit it hard it red lines real fast then stays about 3500rpms for me untill i let off the gas... haha akind of the opposite of you..

do u have an mods done?
