power source for gauges!!!
power source for gauges!!!
ok I just got done looking at the fuse box now my question is can I run 4 gauges off the same power wire or will that overheat it? Or can I run two gauges off each power source? Or should I try to run each gauge to its own power source?
Reason being is because I found 2 power sources for ignition power, and 2 sources for the light switch "the light switch goes to the light dimmer."
Or if anyone has pics, a thread, or any advice on how they installed thier gauges please let me know.
I have an AEM wideband, greddy oil pressure gauge, prosport boost gauge, and im about to buy a glowshift egt gauge.

In all honesty, gauges do not draw too much current. If your using the cigarette lighter fuse you should be fine. I run all three of my gauges and a radar detector off the same fuse tap and I have not had any problems so far after a year of driving. Just make sure your properly grounded.

Not true , or at least thats not right , the problem is too many amps, see each part draws a certain amount of amps , yet the wire for the circuit is designed for a certain amount as well normally on mitsus the maximum amps are 20 amps per wire, when you add amps to a circuit the traveling power makes the wire hot , Not a good idea ....
think of it as running a 130 amp alternator to battery wire on something the size of a speaker wire, because of the amps (power) going through it the wire will melt the casing off from heat in that case....
to do it right I'd get a turbo timer harness and use the thicker wires in the ignition circuit to power multiple acc items , it'll have a wire for acc and battery constant hot along with a ground, also you can install a turbo timer using the harness while you in there
