03 Lancer LS noob questions
I've been reading the forums for the 3 months I've had my LS, and I still haven't found a few questions I have about my car. If anyone has any ideas or answers, it'd help SO MUCH! Thanks to everyone!
Firstly, where do I find the color code for my car? I believe it is Coronado Sand (A26), but I don't know where to look on my car to find the exact color. Is there a hidden label or is it from my VIN? My car is older, and the front bumper is losing paint fast...
Second, my check engine light came on a few weeks ago, and I took it to Auto Zone to get the code read. They told me that it was the second O2 Sensor (by the cat). Me being the cheap bum that I am, replaced my air filter (it wasn't in the best of shape), and drove on it for a few more hours. My check engine light went off. Is my O2 Sensor magically fixed, or should I still replace it next paycheck?
Third, it's another one of those weird noise questions... My LS has an automatic transmission (
, I know), and when I get up to around 5k RPMs or more and completely let off of the throttle (and sometimes when it shifts), there's a weird noise that sounds almost like a BOV. Now, this ain't no EVO or RalliArt, so it doesn't have a turbo.....so there's no reason for an NA car like mine to have a BOV, right? Am I just crazy?
And finally, now that I have employment again, I'm looking into making my car look...different. There are too many Lancers where I live, and i swear 95% are driven by women (not a bad thing... I just don't want mine to look like a chick car, sue me). Would the EVO population at large hate me if I got an EVO 8/9 wing or bumpers? Something to make my little Lancer look just a bit nicer?
Thanks to everyone, I've learned a LOT of info here!

Okay, talked to my brother in law, who thinks the BOV sound is just the throttle plate doing something. (I still haven't figured out what a throttle plate is)
Also, new question-- Do I have to go to a dealer to get spare keys made, or will a Wal-Mart copy work for both doors and ignition?

Q1- check the plate under the hood
Q2- leave it alone unless the light comes back on. 2nd o2 does nothing but emissions BS.
Q3- can't diagnose w/o hearing but the throttle plate is what lets air into your engine. throttle pedal down, throttle plate open, throttle pedal up, throttle plate closed. it is also known as the butterfly in the throttle body.
Q4- YES.
