Please help!

this has been going on for over a year now, and it's getting worse. I'm losing my lancer to high mileage and old age : ( okay I have 3 Major problems that happen day-to-day and when the car has been driven a while and is all heated up...

PROBLEM 1

when I come to a stop, The brakes feel unstable and mushy, too much pressure is applied even when I dont press down that hard...then when I take my foot off the pedal, the pedal stays down, the car jerks forward then I can hit the brake or the gas depending on the conditions....

PROBLEM 2

When The car shifts down It hesitates thus causing me to Lose alot of power, in fact when I floor the gas pedal, the car actually leans forward as if i'm hitting the brakes, then lurches forward with a roar and gives me a boost of speed.

PROBLEM 3

When everything is going smoothly (meaning the first two problems aren't in effect) If I floor the gas, it will accel and shift smoothly, but I lose all power steering...It's REALLY dangerous, I almost crashed. Lately it's been getting worse.

Problem 1 happneds ALL the time, usually...especially when I use the brakes for a while and warm them up.

Problem 2 probably happneds MORE when I have the AC on, but I have noticed it happening maybe once or twice with the AC off.

Problem 3 happnends at random time, but lately it has been happening whenever I floor the pedal :/

the car has seen 3 different mechanics.

Mech1: said that Problem 1 was the motor/tranny mounts. they were broken, so I had them changed. Also said that the rotors were warped, changed rotors and pads. Also said that my Rack and Pinion is possibly going out.

Mech2: says that there was air in the brake lines. There actually was, We pumped the air out. Also said that the tranny fluid should be flushed for Problem 2. Refilled with Generic import ATF. Also said rotors were warped so we replaced them....AGAIN and the pads.....

Mech3: Said that it was a clogged Catalytic converter in the front of the engine...replaced with RRM header. Also said that air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter should be changed.....Added CAI, new plugs and wires, and fuel filter...

so far iv'e put over $1500 into this car!

something is causing the rotors to keep warping.

Please help me out guys! I would really appreciate it!

how many miles are on the car?

if your rotrs keep warping try putting on a rebuilt caliper. possibly the piston on the caliper is sticking and thus in turn could be putting too much pressure on the rotor. shouldnt tho but you never know. have your power steering pump looked at as well.

also for the hesitation it imght be something in the transmission shift solenoid inside the transmission. i know its a pretty common thing in a lot of chrysler minivans as well....

Shift Solenoid? I shall add it to the list. I find it very unusual that 3 different mechanics can't figure out my problem ;-;

shift solenoid is the part of the transmission that has all the valves to pressureize the shifters in the auto trans. it is usually all one unit for the solenoid.

i dont know about the mechanics, but i do work at an auto parts store and i see this quite often.

Okay...I'm going to have the calipers replaced.
I'm also going to change the PS belt and check the pump.
I'm trying to see about Converting to Stick shift. The tranny is cheap...I have someone doing the labor for me for free....I just need to do my research to see exactly how tough it's going to be.

not doing it...mother of mercy.

Im okay with the trans, the center console, the clutch, the pedals, the ecu, and the slave cylander....but when you get into changing the axels, you have lost your mind.

watch out who you're taking it to for work. a LOT of mechanics don't really know what they're doing when it comes to mitsus, or any foreign car for the matter. I know the dealership sucks for stuff, but they can at least troubleshoot the problem and probably give you some straight answers for a few hundred bones. Better than this back and forth crap you're having to deal with.

Especially when some mechanics don't have computers, and def don't have service manual access for our cars...
