Gauge Cluster issues

2005 Lancer ES
55k

My gauge cluster began going hay wire for about a year now.

Occasionally the needles will completely drop, dim out, and then reset themselves back to normal.

Other times the needles will drop, stick and not move for a few minutes.

Also had issues with the needles becoming stuck at whatever they were at while driving, the mileage readout ends up garbled and it sometimes resets itself after i have shut the car off for a little while - other times like tonight ive had to remove the cluster, pull the plugs from the back and replug everything back in.

Im clueless as theres no real set pattern, it can do it on hot days, cold days, when driving on a flat road and over bumps.

Ive had the board looked at and they've said it looks fine, so fried connections.
And anytime I want to bring it to a shop it always seems to make a liar out of me and not do it for the mechanic.

They've run it for codes and nothing came up.

Anyone has any ideas?
Has this ever happened to you?

I dont want to dish out money for a new cluster if thats not the issue.
