squeak from motor?

ok another odd issue.

i have a squeaking coming from the engine bay, over buy the pulleys. i'm thinking the common, belts, and will replace this weekend.

what makes me curious is that it does not seem to speed up or slow down with the rpms. looked over the squeak threads and didn't really see anything that was similar. is there something else on that side it could be?

well hopefully we can come up with something here before i just start randomly replacing things lol.

it sounds like it is coming from the alternator or the power steering pump. hopefully when i start diving into everything i can narrow it down a bit more.

oh i def want that noise to go away haha!

yea its on the passenger side of the engine! and its worst when you start the car in the morning to go work! then as it warms up it goes away or you just dont hear it anymore! its hella odd

maybe the serpentine belt ?
car seems to run good tho

It's more than likely the Serpentine belt. Easy way to check is when it happens, turn the steering wheel a bit and see if the squeaking changes in any way. Might be time to change the belt or it may need a bit of tightening. But then again, since it's cold, when you start the car it'll slip til the belt warms up and expands.

to the OP: Its a good idea to check the belts, but you also said that the sound your hearing doesnt speed up with engine speed, making it seem like its something else other than belts. Check for loose brackets around the area or anything "loose" for that matter, If it doesnt "speed up" with the engine speed, it wouldnt be anything connected to the motor per say. check the suspension, motor mounts too maybe, let us know if you get any more clues!

but then when i dont hear the spinning squeaking sound anymore ILL RANDOMLY hear it when the car is in the 1.5k rpms mostly when the car is accelerating from stop or switching from gear one to gear 2 as the rpms go down as you shift

Is it a squeak or more like a squeal? Squeaking is usually a tensioner or idler pulley going out whereas a squeal is most likely the belt

+1 A squeal will most likely be a belt slipping, causes of that are cold temp, old worn out belts, or an incorrectly adjusted belt, re-tention the belt first to see if the noise goes away or just replace them and you should be fine! The squeaking will most likely caused from an idler puller or tensioner pully like 03lances said, causes for that are usually just old age, just replace the squeaking pully. To find out if its a belt vs a pully put some belt dressing on the suspected belt and if the noise goes away its most likely a bad belt, however if the pully is bad it will continue to make noise

awesome info guys, i will take a look tonight when i get off work and throw some stuff on the belt to see if it makes it better.

for me it's more of a squeak i'd say, a constant squeak. temp doesn't seem to matter for me. it makes the noise more when it warms up i'd say. usually in the morning when i first start the car i'll hear it for a second then it'll go away (atleast seems to, maybe i just stop hearing it). i'll look over the brakets and see if i can find anything loose. one of the belts looks like it's begining to frey a little on one side and i will be replacing that asap. but the sound def. does not move with the motor.

thanks for the info guys!

UPDATE !!

from taking drives with my car and listening to it i noticed stuff !

when i engage the clutch the spinning squeaking sound stops or maybe its cause the rpms decrease?
and YES while accelerating it seems to get louder ! but i guess i never noticed cause of my exhaust !

so something spinning makes a noise and gets louder and goes faster ! kinda accelerates while the car accelerates itself !
then i let of the gas and engage the clutch and the noise slowly dies !
