if it has to do with your clutch being in or out it might be a throw out bearing

well i thought i would update on this.

couldn't get the belt to stop squealing so i replaced it. still squealed. tightened and loosened and tightened some more. after awhile of diving it it seemed to have stopped for the most part. was driving to the airport to drop a buddy off and on the freeway the car died. check engine light came on and motor died. towed it home and it looks like the cam gear is not turning when i crank the motor, ecu reports p0340. timing belt looks ok from the top, it's not broken, but i'm thinking i stipped some teeth or something.

luckly when i got this car 3 months ago i got bought a warranty with it. so hopefully tonight it will goto the shop to see what damage is done.

lol another update. took it to the shop for repair. def is timing belt, don't know the damage yet (can only imagine).

to top things off the warranty is declining me because the belt was not changed at 120k. i bought the car at 118,800 and it now has 121,900. perfect!

If the engine runs period then I cant imagine any real damage done. Now if it broke you would be crying as your engine most likely would break right along with it as the pistons and valves smash into each other.

right now the motor doesn't run. i'm going to bring it home tonight, when i get a new belt, put it on and see what it does. i hear there is a 5% chance or so of the valves not being bent. if so then i'll be rebuilding the head i'm sure. i was really hoping to not have to work on this car for a few months atleast lol. when we scanned the ecu it came up as p0340 and timing was off a little.

when the car died i'm pretty sure i heard it lose compression. i believe this would be a good sign of bent valves.

Ouch that sucks man. I have worked on many a car and only one time have I seen someone be so lucky as to not have bent valves from the timing belt breaking in there interference engine. Good luck though.
