Alternator Belt
So, I'm finally at a loss with my damn alternator belt. I've tightened it over and over again. I've replace it twice and yet squealing still happens. Is there a tensioner that will go bad for the alternator belt? I know I'm loosening and tightening it properly but over time it just keeps squealing. When I'm at idle it does this stupid little repeated chirping. When A/C is on, it definitely keeps squealing as well.
Any insight guys? Annoyed with belts...

Ha ha...I got the same problem!!!!
I haven't been able to figure it out either so I just deal with it. I'm hoping to do the timing belt and accessory belts soon so I will see if anything changes.

Have you checked the grooves of the pulley and the grooved side of the belt to ensure they are both free of grease, oil and contaminates? The issue could be that there is oil in the grooves that is causing the belt to slip and is giving the illusion of being loose. Just a thought.

That's how mine is. However, I do think the bearing may be bad on mine as well. I may just replace all of it.

Good thing I saved the one from my friends car.
what would cause a bearing to go bad because I didn't have a problem until I had all the belts changed last??

If I'm not mistaken if the belt has been tensioned too much or too loose the spinning of the belts will mess up the bearing because it's not on there properly
Subscribed, I'm having the same problem. Squeals when I start it until I rev the engine a couple times then it's good to go. I've replaced the water pump a couple times, the belts.... nothings worked
take it for what it's worth...
My belt used to sqeak alot in damp mornings.
I put a small dab of bicycle chain grease(puty like, white stuff) on the under-side of the belt(the side that comes in contact with the pulley) and it barely ever sqeaks anymore.
