CAI question
CAI question
Does anyone know how to fix a cai intake causing the engine to run too lean. Had the cai for about two months, and just now it's throwing a cel saying engine running too lean. I understand that the cai is changing the air/fuel ratios. My question is, do you think that getting the rrm throttle body and piggyback ecu will eliminate this cel?
Moving this to troubleshooting since that's what you're asking for. Please try to post in the most specific forum possible.
There's no reason that ANY INTAKE alone should be throwing a CEL. Unless your MAF is somehow damaged, you didn't attach the vac line to your valve cover, or your ECU is retarded and can't compensate for minor fuel adjustments, then there's something else tossing the CEL. I'm guessing you've had your codes pulled, but if you haven't then you definitely should.

check to make sure your hoses are connected securely and tight. unplug the negative conncector on your battery and let the car discharge for 15 minutes. then reconnect the negative connector to the battery, turn car on and let it idle for 10 minutes.
I have a diagnostic cpu, but the only thing that you said that i think it could be is the vacuum line. I have a breather on the valve cover instead of the line. But two months later it's going to throw a cel for that, and I know there is a difference, but air is still getting to the valve cover throught the breather. I'll try it, see if it throws another cel. Thanks
