I don't how many of you all out there get a little confused when you look at pictures of peoples engine bays after they install their turbos. I know i can be confused easily, cuz there is not ONE right way of doing it, so you're always looking at something different. well with a little help from Paul i have put together a simple diagram to show the basic layout of a turbo. I know it helped me out so hopefully it will also help others too.

forgot the waste gate and instead fo calling it "to rest of piping" call it a down pipe

the waste gate is internal, and the down pipe isnt apart of the turbo layout, its apart of the exhaust, so i chose not to label it. thanks for the comments. glad i could help.

 

Hey liquid? Do you have pictures on here of your Lancer. Just wondering cause you listed every part rrm makes. I figure if you got no pictures then maybe your talking out your ***....Cause if I had all that done i would be showing people, not talking about it...

Look at the picture again. It has an external wastegate. Also liquid is right, it's not "the rest of the piping" it's the "down pipe". The external wastegate is usually attached to the exhaust manifold somewhere and the dump tube is either vented back into the down pipe (exhuast) or into the atmosphere. Mine is vented into atmosphere and makes a phat *** noise.
