Exclamation Do your stock tires go from under you on Rainy Days???

Fellas,

Do your tires give way every time it rains, or is it just me?

It most recently happened to me this morning as I was coming home from a club. It's was raining here in NYC and i was in the outside lane on the highway when next thing i know my front tires completely lost traction and my car almost hydroplaned into the guard rail. I quickly slowed down and kept driving at about 45mph thinkin that driving a little slower will give me better traction, NEGATIVE on that. It seems that no matter how slow/fast i went my tires get ****ty traction and can give at any moment.

Does this happen to you guys too??? I'd appreciate some feedback.

well, ususally cars will just hydroplane regardless (depending on the speed ofcourse and how much water there is...)
if you graduately slow down it'll still have the same effect (obviously) up until you hit a certain speed... then it'll go back to regular... it's a hard thing to control sometimes, cuz sometimes you could be going mad fast and NOTHING WILL HAPPEN... but yeah, these tires blow lol

I'm in agreement with ya... same here... though i think my tires are brand new as they look like the previous owner of my lancer had rims on there as the tires look like they've had no miles on them and the car has 9000 miles.

what tires do you have? the yoko's or the goodyear's? i have the goodyears and they seem to be no problem in any kind of weather even tho it's very, very close to the wear bars. we've had heavy rain the past week and it's not problem here. i have 36,000 miles on the car and tires.

hells yeah my tires suck! the other day it was raining and i was driving with a friend and i told him "man these tires suck in the rain!" and i went around a turn around at like 30 and guess what? the front tires broke loose and the back end foolowed soon after i did a 180 on the turn around. and i notice that they hydro alot and if i need to stop i have to slow down way before cause if its wet and i brake slightly to hard they break traction. these tires suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on my way to class this morning and it was pouring and I noticed this also. I have the goodyears. My Saturn (my old car), on the other hand, didn't do this unless I floored the gas pedal in the rain and still would catch traction (but i didn't have stock tires on them).

I have the stock yokos, and my autocross tires have better wet traction. Just waiting for an excuse to get rid of those crappy yokos.
