Oil Loss?

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS (5spd) 110k miles

i've found that my car has been having difficulties keeping the engine internals lubricated. I have to keep putting oil in every 3 weeks or so. It doesn't just lose a little either. It's like it just decided to throw away oil whenever it feels like it. One day it'll sound clean and smooth running and then the next day it's making a dread ticking sound, especially when I corner left. Not as much when I corner right though. There is no signs of leaking because my driveway is clean. There aren't any signs of a blown head gasket. It doesn't overheat. Could it just be worn piston rings? Knowing my luck it's probably something time consuming and expensive.

Any info or personal experiences would be much appreciated! thanks!

Hello,

Did this suddenly start happening after an oil change ?
Could be a loose oil filter. It would reproduce everything you say, especially the part about no oil stains on your driveway, but you would have residue on the filter itself.

I doubt it would be rings, your car is too new, plus you'd see the car fogging when you step on it.

Look (carefully - parking brake on/idle in park/neutral only) underneath when running for drips. Drop the plastic shields and look for oil

I agree- burning THAT much would be quite evident!

Yes I believe it did just start after my last oil change. I'll have to check this out right away! Thank you for the info!
